And the band played on

The Royal Welsh Band played outside Hafan Gwydir in Llanrwst on Thursday the 22nd of September.  In full uniform accompanied by their mascot, the band played for a full 15 minutes before heading off on the next stop of their Wales-wide tour. Thanks to my Canon Power Shot SX 120, I was able to take some photos.

Energy Bills Going up in October: What should you do?

The industry regulator Ofgem has announced a 12% increase to the maximum energy cap on any default energy rates from the 1st of October. This means that anyone not on a fixed rate with their energy provider could find themselves with an energy bill increase, and in some cases an increase of £139 per year. March the 8th is International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is ‘choose to challenge’.  We should all choose to call out bias against women and inequality and choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. So, my thoughts turned to Elizabeth ‘Betsi’ Cadwaladr who very much chose to challenge. She challenged a class system that oppressed the poor, a patriarchy that condemned women to a life of subservience and ageism by working as a nurse in the Crimean War at age 65, and challenged a bureaucratic system to improve hygiene conditions on the frontlines and properly treat soldiers.
